Launching a global platform without losing visibility

SmartestEnergy is a global energy company that helps businesses, generators and partners transition to net zero. Over 25 years the organisation has grown from a UK start-up into an international energy business.

As part of this growth, SmartestEnergy set out to launch a new ecosystem of five websites covering their businesses in the UK, US and Australia, as well as a corporate website.The new ecosystem was designed to create a modern, scalable digital experience for customers and stakeholders worldwide.

As with all large website projects, SmartestEnergy needed to ensure their websites launched with the technical foundations required to maintain search visibility and support their growth into international markets.

Pre-launch SEO audit

We carried out a detailed technical review across the new domains, analysing site structure, metadata, headings and URL conventions to identify issues that could affect how search engines crawl and understand their sites.

International SEO planning

We provided recommendations to support global search visibility, including sitemap structure, redirect mapping, schema guidance and international hreflang implementation to ensure search engines could correctly interpret the relationship between their global websites.

Post-launch optimisation

Following launch, we conducted a second audit to identify and resolve issues that naturally arose during migration, such as broken links, missing metadata and indexing issues.

The results

Increased visibility, engagement and industry recognition

SmartestEnergy’s new websites successfully launched in December 2024, creating a scalable platform to support continued international growth. Following the launch, the organisation expanded its global search visibility. Between November 2024 and March 2025, the number of keywords SmartestEnergy ranked for worldwide increased by 51%.

The new platform also delivered stronger user engagement. Visitors now spend more time exploring SmartestEnergy’s insights, tools and resources, contributing to a 42% increase in engagement. The project has received industry recognition, with SmartestEnergy’s global websites winning Silver at the Digital Impact Awards 2025 in the category Best Use of Digital by Sector: Energy and Utilities.
