The evolution to exceptional™

2006
On 20 January 2006, Iain Scott founded Base Creative in a small office in Watford, launching the agency in the early days of digital marketing and securing its first clients, including the RSPCA as its first major account.
2008
The team began to grow, with Anna Corbett joining as Project Manager, wearing many hats as the agency evolved.


2009
Our work was recognised with a Lord Mayor’s Dragon Award for a campaign with London charity The Brokerage, supporting young people in inner-city London into work.
We moved from Watford to London, setting up in the Business Design Centre in Islington as we entered our next phase of growth.
2010
We added social media to our offering as platforms evolved beyond personal use to redefine how organisations were discovered, engaged with, and trusted online.


2013
Integrated analytics became central to how we worked, bringing greater clarity and measurable impact to every client relationship.
Greg Mileham joined as an Account & Project Manager, later becoming Managing Director and helping bring structure and scale to the agency.
2017
We began transitioning from delivering one-off digital projects to building long-term strategic partnerships with clients, marking a shift toward becoming a strategic growth partner.
Our work with SMS helped define our approach to full digital marketing strategies focused on long-term growth and impact, and marked the beginning of long-term partnerships in the energy sector.


2018
As our specialism deepened, we began partnering with other agencies on digital work for major global corporates, including brands such as BT Group, Vodafone, and Worldpay.
2019
We moved from Islington to our Shoreditch base at Zetland House, marking a new chapter in the agency’s growth.


2020
During the COVID-19 pandemic, we adapted our ways of working to help clients respond to uncertainty, maintain momentum, and continue growing through rapid change.
2022
We moved into Aldgate Tower, a landmark London workspace with a BREEAM Excellent rating and environmental efficiencies including solar energy and waste-reduction systems, marking a turning point in scale, ambition, and clarity of purpose.


2024
We became a certified B Corp, formally recognising our commitment to responsible business and long-term impact.
The idea for exceptional™ took shape, setting the direction for the agency’s next chapter.
2026
On 20 January 2026, exactly 20 years to the day from the founding of Base Creative, the agency completes its transition to exceptional™.
The new proposition focused on AI Driven Discovery, partnering with innovative and visionary organisations to build visibility, demand, and leadership in a new era of online discovery.
